Sushmita Sen has been recently offered
the role of Pakistan’s former lady Prime Minister Benazir
Bhutto by two prominent Pakistani producers Zaid Aziz and
Henna Rai.This film would be a bilingual film made in both
English and Urdu and would be shot lavishly in Pakistan and
England.

Apparently, Sushmita is working hard for
her character. She is reading up extensively on the life of
Benzir Bhutto and also working on her Urdu diction. (no
wonder there was all that annoyingly excessive use of
subhanallah and mashallah in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena)

Sushmita earlier declared her love for
historical character and period flicks. We hope atleast this
film will soar her popularity in Bollywood.

Shahrukh Khan celebrated his 43rd birthday, Aishwarya Rai
proudly turned 35 and Tabu turned 38. Bollywood’s creme de
la creme has really come of age. Top Bollywood heroes are
all above 40 and top actresses are in their early and
mid-thirties.

Aamir Khan too is 43, Salman Khan is 42,
Akshay Kumar 41, Sanjay Dutt 49, Anil Kapoor 48. Salman Khan
still annoyingly lurks around roles of a young man waiting
to fall in love. Aamir Khan, carries his age with class and
focuses on a lot more than chocolate romance that has been
SRK’s department for a long long time. But with Rab Ne Bana
Di Jodi Shahrukh seems to show that as an actor he is quite
comfortable with his age, although Om Shanti Om was quite a
shocker in this matter.

Mallika Sherawat, although has every
excuse to make her look like a 27 year old but she is
actually not. She has apparently had a long struggling phase
of modelling, air hosting and even an alleged failed
marriage. That makes her just not less than 36 years old.
Yet she recently celebrated her 28th birthday.

I wish Bollywood learns to age

Aditya Chopra’s well guarded secret… the
story of his forthcoming flick starring Shahrukh Khan and
newcomer Anushka Sharma is finally out.Shahrukh Khan’s
different look, that of an ordinary boring government
employee has evoked quite some curiosity from people and now
that the story is out, all curiosity will fizz out.

A source at the Yash Raj Films revealed
on the condition of anonymity that RNBDJ is a romantic tale
of an older man Shahrukh Khan his young teenage bride. The
source says,

“There is a big age difference between
them and they are not what you’d call a perfect couple.
They are merely stretching their marriage with no real
romance in between them. They are two very different
people. There’s a reality dance show called Rab Ne Bana Di
Jodi — which is the main backdrop of the movie. The show
is on the lines of popular television show, Nach Baliye.”

The source continues, “Anushka wants to take part in the
dance competition but she can’t because her husband is an
old and not hip and happening. She fears that if she
dances with him, she will lose the show and become the
laughing stock among all her friends, who are taking part
in the same. Shah Rukh over hears his wife’s problem and
decides to go in for a makeover. He then watches some
movies and changes his image completely and comes back to
the show and woos Anushka off her feet. All the way
through the dance competition, she keeps on falling in
love with this new and improved Shah Rukh, without once
realising that the man she is dancing with is her real
husband.”

However, Yash Raj Films have not
commented on this news. We gotta wait and watch to see if
this news is correct.

Financial Crisis Pinches Bollywood Too

The fumes of the global economic meltdown
have started effecting Bollywood big time as major
production houses start cost-cutting.Apparently, T-Series
CEO Bhushan Kumar has asked Director Pooja Bhatt to reduce
the budget of her Himesh Reshammiya starring Kajra Re. The
production house is also reconsidering its projects that are
starring expensive stars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Bollywood trade analyst Komal Nahata
confirms, “The slowdown has been felt in the industry
rather slowly, but it has now caught up with it…However,
it is difficult to say whether this has happened as a
result of the global impact or due to the box-office
disasters of recent big-budget movies, like Drona, Kidnap
and Karzzz. But a sense of insecurity now pervades all
production concerns, more so in Bollywood’s corporates
houses.”

Director of a production house called
Percept Picture also added saying, “Recently, two Bollywood
corporate houses incurred losses to the tune of Rs 160 crore
and Rs 60 crore, respectively. Naturally both have now put
on hold their planned acquisitions. This was bound to
happen. But it has happened sooner than we expected.”

Kishore Lulla of Eros International
explains, “Look, with the liquidity crunch in the market,
people now have less disposable income and so they will
now spend less on luxury and entertainment - which means
the movie-going clientele will decrease and so will the
box-office collections.

“This will first affect the exhibition
and distribution sector and consequently the production
sector as it will have less money coming in from the two
main sources - film exhibition and distribution. With less
money on hand, producers will be forced to cut cost before
the system gets corrected.”

of his children. And, I’ve told Saif this. I would want
her to have that kind of respect always. This is what my
parents have taught me. At the end of the day, it was just
a marriage that didn’t work out. I have always encouraged
Saif to be friends with her because I think that would be
great. I guess they will just need time but that’s
something that they would need to deal with. I will always
respect her. As far as any other relationship of Saif is

Its been a popular trend inspired from Hollywood flicks
like Bond series to have a super sexy actress emerging out
of the sea in a bikini. Most filmmakers promote this as the
USP of the film.

Priyanka Chopra walking in a golden swimsuit in Dostana’s
first promos, Minissha Lamba sizzling down in her pearly
white bikini swimming carelessly in the Ocean or Kareena
Kapoor flaunting her zero size figure in a electric green
bikini in Tashan… Bollywood sure knows how to flaunt their
leading ladies to grab eye-balls.

But how far does this tactic help in pulling crowds to
the cinema hall? Can a bikini clad Kareena Kapoor, Mallika
Sherawat or Bipasha Basu evoke so much interest and
curiosity.

One movie buff, Piyush Arora says, “Bikini shots are
fairly common these days… besides all of them look just
the same, so I wouldn’t go for the movie because it offers
a Bikini scene. It hardly matters.”

While another cine-goer Bharthi says, “Whatever people
might say but skin show does attract people… especially
men. It offers them sheer spectacle that film makers make
out of women’s bodies… and if it draws crowds to the
theatres, they find nothing wrong with it. Its worth a try
for them.”

star-status and popularity is only restricted to South Asia.

A source was quoted saying, “Yes, many
know Aishwarya Rai as one of the most beautiful faces in
the world. But that was not quite enough for them to flock
to watch her movie.”

The recent financial crisis and the long
list of Yash Raj failures has forced director Adi Chopra to
shelve his forthcoming flick Haddippa starring Shahid Kapoor
and Rani Mukherjee in pivotal roles.

A source reveals, “Adi is in desperate
times as most of Yash Raj movies have flopped miserably at
the Box Office. They have had only one hit in the last two
years, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chak De India. So Adi
doesn’t want any more flops.”

“He has his own directed film, Rab Ne
Bana Di Jodi, and is 90% certain that this will become a
hit, mainly because it has the star-power of Shah Rukh
Khan in the cast. But it’s one of the films after that
which has got him worried, Haddipa,” continued the source.

“Adi found the direction amateurish by
Yash Raj standards. He had a long chat with Anurag Singh
(Director) who was shooting the film in Punjab. Adi made
it very clear that until things changed, he wouldn’t have
another schedule for the film.”

Bebo confirmed the news for us and revealed, “Yes. Recently, I was offered a big show on television. I have been living out of suitcases for some time now. I have hardly had a breather. I would like to do television, but say, after two years.”



Another source reveals, “The producers of the show and the channel were very keen that Kareena should host the show. They were very disappointed when she refused.”

in love with the junior B and is now missing him very much as they are required
to shoot for the promotional song separately.



John says, “Abhishek is not a co-star or a colleague. He’s a friend. I dote
on him. I love him to death. We never compete. We complement each other in ‘Dostana’.
We share a great chemistry. Abhishek and I are a couple in the film.”



Director Manshukhani says, “They shot individually so the masti of the rest of
the movie was missing on the sets. But I deliberately didn’t shoot the song
with John and Abhishek together. I wanted at least this one song to look
different from the rest of the film where they’re constantly together, fooling
around and chumming it up. This is a music video which we’ll use for promotion
and probably for the end titles.”
